A pro ball player can get millions but a Soldier who puts his life on the line against ISIS and the Taliban gets paid just enough to make ends meet.

Army money is the easiest money I've ever made in my life. And that's a fact. If you're not getting paid enough to make it worth it to you, get out.

Well I'm personally good. Have had venture in real estate and I'm also a business owner. I was saying just for all soldiers in general. When I first joined as an E-1, I was barely clearing $600 a check.

SGT(P) Daniel McBride Thanks for the reply. I enlisted in the NG as an E-1, I had been making about 45k a year at my civilian job. During OSUT, I supported my family on E-1 PVT Pay plus BAH. I don't recall for sure, but I believe that I got family separation pay as well. A guy won't get rich off it, but it allowed me to support my wife and 3 kids, while making a house payment. And it honestly preferred it to my civilian job, because I didn't have to deal with underhanded double dealing back stabbing salesmen, and the same type of customers on occasion.

I hope your civilian ventures turn out well, and that they're worth it to you.

Should service members get paid more? Of course, I won't argue with that.

But I would respectfully disagree with just enough to make ends to meet. For someone who may be 18 and just out of high school the pay is pretty good.
