There seems to be a few members of RallyPoint whose military service seems questionable based on statements made. When questioned about it, they usually do not respond. I'm not saying they aren't real vets, but is there a reason why someone wouldn't (or couldn't) verify their account? Just curious, because it seems easy to do and if its privacy issues you can always send in a redacted DD-214, and adjust your privacy settings.

UPDATE: Seems like there is some issues (at least with newer members) of having a problem verifying their accounts. RP Admins: Any suggestions?

I can only think of two reasons not to verify yourself; one, security which hasn't been an issue for the majority of us who have. And two, the unverified aren't who they say they are and they are just here to troll.

To be fair, a third likelihood is, they have tried and the system acted up..or the request is still in Que for one of the 4 folks that process verifications.

I’m a number one. I’m a new member as of today! I have looked at the requirements to become verified but I haven’t left for BCT yet (hince why I joined to better my knowledge on what to expect and understand my MOS on a day to day level) so my paperwork isn’t “verifiable” until afterwards. I’m glad I’m not in the trolls category LOL.

I've come accross individuals that told huge tales about being in and doing things in the military. The one thing that remains the same about all of them is that when questiined, they get very evasive.

SGM Erik Marquez No worries. I'll verify your story. You'll just need to verify that I was the Intel Officer onboard the C-130 that questioned you as to what you were doing in the middle of our "training exercise". BTW--you were told to never mention the F-STARS (Fulton Surface to Air Recovery System) on a public forum.

On this tack, perhaps someone can enlighten me on any or all of the following:
1. Why does RP allow ANONYMOUS members?
2. Why is anyone not required to post a suitable photograph with his or her profile?
3. Why are full names not required?
My point is that I feel these practices are inconsistent with what RP's policies SHOULD BE regarding any member's profile.

I agree. I think the purpose behind it (although I am not completely positive) is they wanted to try and be as inclusive as possible. However, I do like the idea of having a "verified only" military networking site. When I read that, that was actually the deciding factor in me signing up to RP. Now I am seeing all these unverified members and its confusing. I know so some members are having problems/delays, but there are definitely others that aren't even bothering... And a few of them have been called out by others as being high suspect on whether or not they are truly veterans...

After reading this post, I went and updated my profile with my picture. Yep, just as I suspected, as I get older, I get uglier! :-(

CW2 Rob Janke - You ARE NOT ugly! You are like a fine wine: better with age. Like all of us 'old timers', we are just aging better and watching the younger ones come up in the ranks.
