I joined the U.S. Army reserves in December of 2015. It has always been in my best interest and career goal to make the U.S. Army a full-time profession, but I was told at MEPS that my high school diploma was a tier 2. Which I guess is equivalent to a GED. At the time I was struggling in the civilian world and I figured that joining the Reserves would at least help get my foot In the door. The recruiter that I was working with at the time also told me that I could make the switch easily. That was definitely misleading. Over the course of 2 1/2 years, I have been trying to go Active. I have turned in two DD Form 368's, but the first one had stalled out in battalion for a year and expired. I turned in another conditional release in October of 2017, and It is at the final approval stage. BUT I am hearing from my UA that most of them are being denied. Recently I had gone to an Air Force recruiter and he then evaluated my diploma and showed me that it is indeed a tier 1, and was wrongfully placed in the Reserves. I also went to two of the local Army recruiting offices and got a call back from one of the recruiters who also told me that my diploma showed as a Tier 1, not a Tier 2. On top of that, I have recently got in contact with a friend who graduated from the same high school as me, and joined 2 months before I did, and he was able to join Active. I never dropped out of high school, my high school diploma says "Diploma" on it, and all of the recruiters I've talked to has said that it's pretty shady that the person who evaluated my diploma would count it as a 12J. Since being put in the Reserves, it has caused a huge negative impact on my life. It is hurting me personally because for the past 3 years my life and career goals have been put on hold. I don't want to pursue another line of work, and I don't want to embark on a different career path. Since I just found out about my diploma, I was not able to include that in my justification memo. It has been very challenging as I must deal with a full-time civilian job and it has caused a strain and financial hardship on my life. The last thing I want to do is step on Army toes, but I have worked my Chain Of Command and the issues have gone unresolved or they sit on it. Someone's careless mistake has cost me my life, and withheld me from going active immediately. I know that at this point I will still need to get released from my unit to go Active, but is there anything I can do to expedite it since I am not supposed to be here in the first place? Is there any firepower that I have to get me Active with no problem? It has been extremely stressful knowing that I could have been Active, that 3 years of my life and career has been wasted, my life has not been able to grow and develop properly. It has been an uphill battle trying to go Active and I can't get a fair hearing as far as being allowed to go active.

This isn't a panacea, I'm unsure of the svcs, VA, or industry accepts them, they're not regionally accredited, they're under DETC formerly NHSC, which is Federally recognized...they got Vatican endorsement recently, they have assocs and bach in bus admin, comp sci (CS), and health SDI, as we'll as an MBA...they have no tuition, only admin and exam fees, prorated by country, their offs are in Calif...dont do them first thing, you'd really need to see if they'd ne acceptable, I merely suggest them as a possibility, you'd really need to ask first, OK?
