Is there anyway I could leave the NG to go active and try out for a Ranger Bn or do I have to wait until my contract is up?

I am in a 4 year contract with the Massachusetts national guard. I got the crazy opportunity as an 88m to attend Ranger school while being initial entry. I went strait through and really liked the culture I was surrounded by. Being back home this past year has been miserable for me and I can’t stop thinking about trying out for ranger bat. Is there anyway I could go active and tryout or do I have to wait until my contract is up?

The only way for NG to go to RASP/school is for their unit to pay for it, and that seldom happens.

Once you join the Army you cannot go straight into regiment being prior service. Your best hope is to go to a line unit and then try to go to regiment from there. I think you'd find the same mentality in some other units also. Most light units are the same way.

You'll see on here that other people have searched conditional release. That's what you need. Don't hold out for any option 40 crap, just take whatever, preferably an airborne assignment. Since you're listing yourself as an 11B1V I'm assuming that you're an Airborne Qualified 11B. If you're not, you need to change that because nobody likes a poser, and if you don't understand why that's incorrect then you definitely need to change it. But since you're an Airborne qualified, Ranger qualified 11B, ask to go to the 82nd. You can immediately submit your request to try out for the 75th.

I went to airborne before ranger school. I was asked to join the RTLI program inside camp butler on fort Benning. Following completion of RTLI I went to RTAC also on camp butler. Sent to ranger class 10-19. Following my ranger graduation I went to 11B re class in Indiana.

SPC (Join to see) - You need to find a recruiter to work with and have them initiate the DD Form 368. Then it goes up your chain of command to the first General. Usually not a rapid process.
