My son joined the Army 3 years ago and his enlistment is almost up. He wanted to join the Air Force, and took the ASVAB and all of his scored were in the mid to high 80s, unfortunately the AF recruiter blew him off. The Army recruiter was relentless. So to make a long story short he join the Army and is in Infantry.

So what I am wondering, is there still a Green to Blue Program? If so where can I find out more information on it?

TIA

The Air Force is currently accepting prior service in these AFSCs. http://www.docdroid.net/kCfNqTe/fy16-prior-service-afsc-list1.pdf.html

Can he cross train into one or does he have to have held the equivalent in his branch?

It says that he has to have a 5 or 7 level in that job already, which he wouldn't coming from the Army except in EOD, but you said he's an 11B.

Most coming from Infantry tend to go into Combat Control, TACP, and Pararescue.

Sorry, I can't help you there. That is a question for a recruiter.

Maj (Join to see) - Even in EOD there is some problems. For a while ARMY students weren't going through "nukes" division. We got a former Army guy and had to send him back to school because he was never trained in nuclear weapons. He had 5 years EOD under his belt but wasn't 3 level qualified in AF standards.

I know there is a Blue to Green program, as I have served with a number of Soldiers who used to be Airmen, but I've never heard of the reverse.

I think the ASVAB score will be an impediment. Mid 80s is going to hold him back. He needs to be in the mid 100s. Before he ets he needs to talk to his 1SG and education counselor and see if he can go to the course to increase his ASVAB scores. This should be step 1 regardless of desired branch of service.

These are the scores he has from the Army ASVAB, the AF scores them on a 99 point system, so high 80s are not bad.

Here are his scores:

In that case I guess he is good. Those scores qualify him for a lot good jobs in the Army. Best of luck to him.
