I must admit that I questioned my faith, but also keep praying. Upon my return from Vietnam I had a period where I fell from grace. However, I finally came to the belief The Good Lord had His reasons for allowing things to happen and that one day He will explain His reasoning. Everyone has their beliefs! For me, I do not believe I would have overcome my demons and regained hope without God. He is the true Healer!

I never really had "faith", I held a general belief that there was a God growing up. That was mainly because that's what people believed in were I grew up. My parents rarely took me to church.
That being said, my belief now is that there may or may not be a higher power.
After some terrible losses in Combat I did not believe there was a God, now I am unsure but haven't cared to search any deeper than that.
I do not believe in religions, and I do not believe that any man that walked this earth was God, nor do I believe they talked to god anymore than your modern preist or equivalent.
I would equate my faith to being lost somewhere that I do not want to be found.

SSG Nicholaus Hale, feelings of abandonment can make individuals feel many things. I too use to ask myself how if there really was a God why did He allow these things to happen. I have veterans today ask me the same question. I don't have an answer, but believe God will tell me, when its time. There is a big difference between religion and spirituality. I am not a big fan of religion, but I do know the Good Lord watches over and blesses those who seek Him. I b hope and pray you find the peace you seek my friend!

I had a waning faith through high school and my entry into the Marines. I actually ended up growing stronger in my religious beliefs while in Iraq. Some things require an explanation, and for me the easiest way to cope with the loss of close friends was to truly believe they were in a better place.
