Terrible news of an alleged insider attack of a Jordanian Policeman Killing two American Soldiers and wounding two more.
As we prepare for Veterans Day, I ask that you keep the families of these Heroes in your thoughts and prayers.
Do we need to be there, and what are you doing to train your troops on the insider threat? Do not allow these Warriors death to go in vain. If you and your team have not completed any training whatsoever, I encourage you to partake in some training: http://cdsetrain.dtic.mil/itawareness/index.htm
Do we need to send more troops to Syria? (http://news.yahoo.com/more-us-troops-possible-syria-defense-sec-ash-180524236.html)

The hard part about strategic warfare against non-state actors includes the fact that we forward deploy people to places where there is a threat for intel, basing, commo, strike assets, etc. purposes CSM Michael J. Uhlig.
I am always saddened when green on blue fratricide occurs - it happened so often in Iraq and Afghanistan and this recent case of a "policeman" killing two of our soldiers and the South African is no less tragic.
I hope and pray that the Lord will comfort their grieving families and that they will be cared for while they grieve.

A few thoughts:
- The tragic killing of two American Soldiers by a Jordanian Policeman and the question of "should we be there" are almost mutually exclusive issues.
- The former is a tactical issue while the latter is a strategic issue. There is a connection between the two but the latter should not be reversed due to the former.
- To use a football analogy, should a football team never pass because the quarterback got sacked on an attempt?
- The decision to place American Soldiers in Jordan should be discussed and analyzed on its own merits as part of whatever the larger American strategy is (against ISIL I assume). The lack of a larger American strategy is probably a better question to answer.
