JRTC: how can I best prepare?

I was a Battalion CM officer at JRTC and NTC several times. Each time I was to both the dedicated GO-FOR and Current Ops / Watch-Officer. Have AWESOME SA. BPT to step-in where ever your S3 needs you. NBC was second fiddle (reality check) and I was commended for stepping into whatever role my 3 needed me.

In no particular order:

1. Go through the personal equipment list and ensure that you have all equipment and it is serviceable.
2. Meet with the S-3 to discuss his expectations of your role in the section.
3. If your battalion has any assigned CBRN equipment. You and your NCO, should ensure the equipment is serviceable and that the soldiers assigned to that equipment know how to operate it and maintain it. (Regardless of where it is assigned). Know the SOP's for employment of that equipment. Make sure that you and your NCO know how to operate and maintain that equipment.
4. Meet with any company CBRN personnel to ensure that they are prepared for all job tasks related to the MOS.
5. Meet with the Brigade Chemo. Talk about how you will interact.
6. If a Chemical company will accompany your Brigade to JRTC, try to meet with them prior to deployment. At least call and introduce yourself.
7. Introduce yourself to the other Battalion Chemo's in the brigade.
8. Review all MOS specific and position related tasks and prepare yourself to perform all of them competently.

Be aware of the various reporting formats to give to your boss.
