Use Operational Security since you do not know who will be reading about you, and tailor your information to meet the job requirements and contacts you are trying to reach.

As Command Enlisted Advisor for one of my Units for most of 10 years, and as a Recruiter of another 10, I got a lot of practice with helping people find and develop their career potential... and fleshing out "career paths"... I've done the same thing in the Fire Service for the better part of 40 years!
What kind of work are you looking for, what kind of educational and experiential background do you have and what part of the country do you want to be in?

It's important to use civilian translation terms when putting in your credentials. I would not put that you have been deployed anywhere at any time.

Civilians believe that if you have been through Combat that you have PTSD, and they don't want that in the work place

SSG Raymond Whitener - 1st Sgt; SSG Whitener has a very good point... You need to take great care when you describe your "exploits" in the Military, particularly where combat is involved.
My brother-in-law, A Ranger trained, Green Beret, Pathfinder & Paratrooper learned it the hard way... he did 6 tours in Vietnam during which he was assigned to what was called LLRP, forward of our lines... and had to be very careful what he told people! They were scared of him...

LinkedIn exists entirely for workplace advice and job hunting. PERIOD!!! Being retired for some thirteen years, it has not done me one bit of good except to link up with with 600-700 military, police, and members of Freemasonry. It is an extremely static website if you are not looking for, 1, a job or, 2, a better job.

Susan, I clicked on the LlinkedIn Signup link that the 1st Sergeant provided. It brought up his profile. I sent an invitation to connect. Once connected, I will send him a message with comments on his LinkedIn profile. The 1st Sergeant may have another idea on how to share this.
