Just got the call for an interview for an AGR Human Resources position. Can anyone help me out as to some study material for the interview?

SGT(P) (Join to see) If you have access to milSuite I would recommend that you get to the S1 Net and dig in. Everything HR related can be located on the S1 Net to include professional advice from some to the communities most knowledgeable HR Leaders. My recommendations for reading are the following: FM 1-0, DA Pam 600-8, AR 600-8-104, AR 600-8-19, AR 600-8-2, AR 600-8-22, and the FUG (Field Users Guide), and the PPG (Personnel Policies Guidance). There is also the AG Tube, (on YouTube).

I'm on the global, look me up anytime, if you need some specific guidance or Support.

SFC (Join to see) is correct about having the inside track but regardless of that fact, it can come down to the impression you make.

Go in knowing the right people. 90% of the time that's how AGRs are selected. Now get ready for the deniers to comment.

I've interviewed for several positions. 90% of the questions they've asked discussed topics specific to what was in the advertisement. Such as "what regulation number covers this subject?" The few questions that were not were typically the standard "describe a difficult situation you've dealt with" sort of questions. Best of luck. Its tough to get your foot in the door with AGR.

David, I realize your probably had no harm intended, but I down voted your response because I personally found it to be an extremely unhelpful, and even taunting post. The original poster is obviously online already asking the network for help and resources. Posting a reply telling him to go online to "get it all" is very not useful, and can even be construed to discourage the original poster from getting actual help.

I understand completely Major and I do apologies for my answer. I guess that I was in too much of a hurry to answer the Sergeant's question. But Sir, with all due respect, I do work, weekly, with several HR Administrators throughout the Northeast as I conduct Pre-employment backgrounds for several high profile Companies and I rely on the Internet for much of my information. I truly apologies to Sgt David Baer for miss leading him. I can assure you that I will be more diligent in the future about such Post. Thank you! Dave

Sgt David G Duchesneau - I am sure you had no bad intentions. I know you work hard to help other veterans.

UPDATE: first off I want to say thank you all for the help and advice. sadly, for me I was not the one selected for the position. I will however keep applying to more and more AGR positions and I will take everything that I have learned from everyone and continue to build on it and I will get selected for an AGR position somewhere.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job. What was some of the questions asked? I also have an interview coming up.

if you are talking about GCSS-Army, I have had some training in a 92A MOST course.

whatever duties and responsibilities were listed on the announcement. Without knowing if you are going to a unit, battalion, state, we won't know. At this point if you don't already know the systems /regs it is all going to be about your professionalism, interviewing skills, etc.
