My unit is set to be at ntc starting May 1st and I actually am supposed to be leaving for NTC on May 2nd. I don't know the exact details as it wasn't disclosed to me, but it was pushed down from higher up to give choices to soldiers that have an ETS or PCS date before August 25th as to if they want to go to NTC or not. As for the people that choose not to go, the SCO sat down 1 on 1 with those people. His points were that, if you don't want to go, he'll have to put those people on ACP class/training to put them on gate guard. He also mentioned that they'll be put on extra duty, and details.

Also regarding ETS leave, he mentioned that he won't be able to guarantee that he signs off on 59 days (example) and that the soldier be prepared to take the minimum of 6-7 travel days.

I was just curious if that's okay?

Well, for starters.....NTC is a 30 day rotation. At worst, the unit would be back by 15 June. If Soldiers can't figure out that they'll have PLENTY of time to get their affairs in order in regards to PCS/ETS....Personally, it shouldn't even be a choice. Should just be a case of "pack your shit, you're going to NTC." Leave is the discretion of the Commander. They aren't saying they wouldn't approve Leave....just not for so many days. Is that a tad shady? Perhaps.

Your brigade commander will put out a policy that says people with X ETS date and earlier will stay back, and X and later will go. It's not really your SCOs choice, the Brigade Commander has to hit a certain number of bodies or they fail validation.

SFC (Join to see), exactly. A lot of Leaders forget that NTC isn't an individual training event, it is a unit MET validation exercise. There are requirements for % of Soldiers and Leaders to be present and if a unit is low on strength, excusals get dicey. The number of NTC attendance related questions often leave this out.

We looked forward to all of our rotations, it was our chance to show we have been doing our jobs.

I am dealing with this problem right now, my report date is before the deadline on the policy and my 1SG is still putting my husband and I on the manifest. We are having issues with our orders but he says he will send us until he has our “orders in his hands”. Any advice?

SGT (Join to see) MPD sends your orders, you go to them to get a copy. You can't be on a manifest to leave if you're physically in a different unit. Go get your orders, clear, and report on time.

Thank you for answering , MPD are the ones telling me my orders are having issues and it was sent up to IPPSA, we are currently waiting on updates. Hopefully it all works out , the stress is real right now. Out levy packets were turned in a month ago and our report date is in April.
