Just heard about this on the news this morning. They are saying she resigned due to difficulties with the ACA website and the director of Management and Budget, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, will be appointed to take up the helm.

I personally feel that the ACA is a horrific law and hurts the American people. I am also scared that the budget chief for this administration will now be leading DHHS.

Any thoughts?

I completely disagree about the ACA but that's a different discussion altogether.  At this point, I don't see a need for her resignation--unless she had planned to resign once the initial enrollment numbers were met.  That actually makes some sense... stick with it until it works and then resign because of the massive screw up with the website.

I can see the opinion of the ACA being a good thing. The way this has been implemented, in my opinion, will continue to errode the working class and likely will not show the proper benefits it was put out to do. Had they instead fixed the issues of not allowing preexisting conditions and helping those that could not afford insurance, that I could get behind. I would also like to see insurance being available across state lines as they do with car insurance.

I am in North Carolina where we have the option of Blue Cross Blue Shield or nothing. Since my civilian job requires that we be a part of their insurance plan, it bleeds me about $500 a month with a $6000 deductable. Something I want nothing to do with and really do not use. Please just let me use Tricare!

Chief, I respect your opinion, but I will be curious if it changes when you are not using Tricare and must use the ACA.

The reason your insurance sucks is because the State of North Carolina did not take the Medicaid expansion.  Any state that did so, is not going to have the benefits of the ACA.

The website launch was crap but the law is sound.  Believe me, I have heard the GOPs take on this at every level.  Frankly, I don't care.  Millions of people who could not get insurance for preexisting conditions like cancer and other deadly diseases will live on.  The right can complain all they want about it (And they do) but have offered little to no alternative.  Just millions of dollars spent in foolhardy votes to overturn it and 23+ billion USD wasted in their heist of the Federal Government.

Implementation=crap but it has recovered from that and is running smoothly.  People can continue to complain about the website problems, but that's in the past, has been fixed, and the person ultimately responsible has resigned.  What more do you want?

I'm aware of the Medicaid expansion that we did not take here and I know that does work into the costs. It does not help the fact that BCBS is all but a monopoly in this state and we are being fined/taxed if we choose not to utilize it. Both sides have an arguement on how NC has handled the implementation of this law for sure.

I love that the ACA supports pre existing conditions and assists those who have less wealth to ensure they have health care, but it still remains to be seen if these people decide to pay for their health care (that I am currently paying a decent amount for) or if they continue to just use the Emergency Room (which I am also paying for) because its cheaper.

The issue that needs to be fixed is forcing people to buy insurance from monopolies and for profit companies. Once they fix that I can embrace this law a good deal more.

SPC(P) Willett,

I see you going through my posts and downvoting them because you probably disagree with them.  That's fine, you have every right.  How about being an adult and explain your position?  Believe me, you won't offend me if you disagree with me.  I enjoy these discussions because a lot of people on here don't agree with me.  How can I understand the opposition to my ideology if I don't engage with them and listen to what they have to say?
