It was bad enough they did it, but to parade it around like a trophy... I am lost for words.

This should be no surprise but like in Vietnam where the Johnson Administration screwed Veterans by playing footsies with dangerous and sociopathic Vietcong. Then a few years ago Schlessinger apologized. Tell that to the moms of the wounded and dead or their girlfriends, wives, etc.

It's a Muslim war now. I hope this somehow brings that region together in a unified cause.

Perhaps this was the spark needed to unite the Arab world in a common cause. Time will tell. The Jordanians are requesting to do even more bombing raids into Syria, and the family of the murdered pilot are even demanding the Jordanian government send in ground troops.

I was evidently addressing active duty soldiers, if you are not, why would you think I was referring to you? My opinion is as valid as anyone else. When you get the mindset that people's opinions that differ from yours is wrong, and you can't distinguish yourself from an active duty soldier or retired, veteran, I tend to just ignore your baseless statement. And I'm tired of people making accusations that clearly are opinions. So, get tired.

There is a difference between showing disrespect and uttering truths that make the potus look bad. I don't see the former coming from those actively serving.

What I hear you saying is that if it makes the potus look bad we should shut our mouth. What's interesting is I began this contribution to the thread and no active duty service member has responded to my post, which invalidates your argument.

I disagree. I don't belong to anyone. There doesn't appear to be any retiree or veteran in this thread above the rank of E5 which indicates that the only person who may be retired in this thread is the person complaining that we should "respect" the potus. My contract ended in 1993 with no IRR obligation remaining.

A retiree collects retiree benefits. A veteran, unless medically discharged, collects nothing. Burial benefit is just a benefit for honorable service.

Stop-loss and conscription are two different things. Stop-loss is the involuntary extension of a service member's active duty service under the enlistment contract in order to retain them beyond their initial end of term of service (ETS) date and up to their contractually agreed end of active obligated service.

In other words, it would take an act of congress to conscript those of out of our contractual obligation. To conscript us for punishment for those of us who provide information or opinion that makes the potus look bad would be a very petty thing to do and would ring of the Mao Tse Tung legacy.

I agree SPC Joseph F Dolloff this should have been taken care of a long time ago. One could argue all day about whether us invading Iraq or pulling out to soon was the cause of this. The bottom line is, we went, we pulled out, and ISIS moved in.

My concern is, our government, as well as others knew what was building long before it got to this point. The only problem with going airborne, and it is an appealing idea, is that it would have to be done in almost every country in the world because these cowards are so spread out.

Are we not still under the Presidents (Bush) general order of war (on terror) to search and destroy wherever they are found including those giving aid and harbouring terrorists?? I did not hear anyone declare an end to this conflict. If so, it would seem we have every right to go anywhere to take care of the job. The UN was given 'fair warning' and should all know we are coming.

SSG Paul Lanciault you made a very good point, this involves most of the world. Even Muslims, who aren't extremists, have condemned this action by ISIS. I need to check, and it has been mentioned on this thread that Muslims are the ones that have suffered the most casualties.

I am hoping this will help to unite the Arab world, or at least a substantial number of them, to stand and take action, however, I also feel the rest of the world needs to support them in any way possible.

I do not think the POTUS has the spine to get involved more than what he is now. Americans been killed and the most we can get from the nations leadership is a token appearance and a lot of empty words.
