ISIS and terrorists have been committing atrocities for a long time now. How much more can happen before the United States gets more actively involved? Will it take another 9/11 type event before the president finally takes the threat serious. He has a difficult time even labeling them as terrorists in some instances.

There is now proof that ISIS burned a captured Jordanian pilot alive. can the United States still stand by while atrocities like this continue?

Is it time for the President of the United States to become more active in combating the growing ISIS threat? They have made direct threats against the United States, attacked citizens in other countries, and have a growing number of followers globally, including the US.

What do you think the US should do?

That is one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever watched. These ISIS M'Frs need to be stopped. I am sick of playing games with these pricks. It's time to handle business shock and awe style, if there is collateral damage, then they shouldn't have been in the way.

MSG Scott McBride There is already collateral damage, maybe this will ultimately eliminate it. It was the most horrific thing I have ever witnessed also.

It was bad enough they did it, but to parade it around like a trophy... I am lost for words.

This should be no surprise but like in Vietnam where the Johnson Administration screwed Veterans by playing footsies with dangerous and sociopathic Vietcong. Then a few years ago Schlessinger apologized. Tell that to the moms of the wounded and dead or their girlfriends, wives, etc.

Burning that pilot alive is disgusting and disgraceful beyond any words I can type into this thread. Makes me sick and angry.

It's a Muslim war now. I hope this somehow brings that region together in a unified cause.

Call me an extremist if you like, but we have a lot of bombs in the AF inventory that we need to get rid of. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if we could save who we can and carpet bomb the rest. Peace the old fashion way.

Perhaps this was the spark needed to unite the Arab world in a common cause. Time will tell. The Jordanians are requesting to do even more bombing raids into Syria, and the family of the murdered pilot are even demanding the Jordanian government send in ground troops.

ISIS crossed the line a while ago. We keep making a new line and they cross it again. Now they are going to execute the failed suicide bomber in retaliation. Stand by with your bags packed as its about to get hot and heavy for the US shortly. IMHO.

In the eyes of the world, ISIS has crossed the line by miles. Unfortunately, the current administration still believes appeasement is the appropriate response.

Cpl. Sain. You can say what you damn well please. As I can. I clearly stated active duty soldiers. I don't care what your status is. I was evidently addressing active duty soldiers, if you are not, why would you think I was referring to you? My opinion is as valid as anyone else. When you get the mindset that people's opinions that differ from yours is wrong, and you can't distinguish yourself from an active duty soldier or retired, veteran, I tend to just ignore your baseless statement. And I'm tired of people making accusations that clearly are opinions. So, get tired.

There is a difference between showing disrespect and uttering truths that make the potus look bad. I don't see the former coming from those actively serving.

What I hear you saying is that if it makes the potus look bad we should shut our mouth. What's interesting is I began this contribution to the thread and no active duty service member has responded to my post, which invalidates your argument.

Had an active SM responded to me, then I could understand your argument. However, it appears you are attempting to censor Veterans and Retirees with your rant.

I disagree. I don't belong to anyone. There doesn't appear to be any retiree or veteran in this thread above the rank of E5 which indicates that the only person who may be retired in this thread is the person complaining that we should "respect" the potus. My contract ended in 1993 with no IRR obligation remaining.

A retiree collects retiree benefits. A veteran, unless medically discharged, collects nothing. Burial benefit is just a benefit for honorable service.

Stop-loss and conscription are two different things. Stop-loss is the involuntary extension of a service member's active duty service under the enlistment contract in order to retain them beyond their initial end of term of service (ETS) date and up to their contractually agreed end of active obligated service.

In other words, it would take an act of congress to conscript those of out of our contractual obligation. To conscript us for punishment for those of us who provide information or opinion that makes the potus look bad would be a very petty thing to do and would ring of the Mao Tse Tung legacy.

The "line" was crossed well before this incident. Do I want to go to war again? Not really. Would I, if it meant stopping this crap? Absolutely! Would I be willing to stay there until the job was complete, and ISIS was eradicated ? Yes I would!

Sorry to say this, but I think they should have taken out several areas, years ago, when they found evidence of terrorist training camps. For a country to allow that kind of activity to continue, in my eyes, is an act of war. We are just too politically correct, to have taken the necessary actions, to extinguish that fire, before it spread. Now look where we are? They have no respect for life, let alone the Geneva Convention. Time to go "Airborne" on them all!

I agree SPC Joseph F Dolloff this should have been taken care of a long time ago. One could argue all day about whether us invading Iraq or pulling out to soon was the cause of this. The bottom line is, we went, we pulled out, and ISIS moved in.

My concern is, our government, as well as others knew what was building long before it got to this point. The only problem with going airborne, and it is an appealing idea, is that it would have to be done in almost every country in the world because these cowards are so spread out.

Are we not still under the Presidents (Bush) general order of war (on terror) to search and destroy wherever they are found including those giving aid and harbouring terrorists?? I did not hear anyone declare an end to this conflict. If so, it would seem we have every right to go anywhere to take care of the job. The UN was given 'fair warning' and should all know we are coming.
Looking for clarification....

Also, wasn't this Declaration of War authorized by Congress? And do they need to also declare an end to action?

I have hoped that behind the scenes we were doing "something". But seeing this group grow in their disregard for human life tells me I have been wrong. How these hooded cowards can hold the world hostage for so long baffles me. Its not just the United States, many other countries have been victimized and need to "Toe the line" with us. If we do show these people the violence of action we are capable of, and I think we should, we need to make sure we finish the job. They have sowed, now let them reap, 10 fold.

SSG Paul Lanciault you made a very good point, this involves most of the world. Even Muslims, who aren't extremists, have condemned this action by ISIS. I need to check, and it has been mentioned on this thread that Muslims are the ones that have suffered the most casualties.

I am hoping this will help to unite the Arab world, or at least a substantial number of them, to stand and take action, however, I also feel the rest of the world needs to support them in any way possible.

I do not think the POTUS has the spine to get involved more than what he is now. Americans been killed and the most we can get from the nations leadership is a token appearance and a lot of empty words.

Let the punishment fit the crime-- White Phosphorus and/or Napalm strikes on any/everywhere ISIS are to be found.

When it come to this young Jordanian warrior being burned alive I don't think that the US should do a damn thing. Jordan needs to send in some ass kickers though to take vengeance on ISIS for killing their pilot. The US can help out, but we shouldn't be the main ones cracking the skulls of ISIS for this. If I was King Abdullah of Jordan I would be sending in so many troops to where ISIS wouldn't have time to breathe. I would be slaughtering ISIS members and sympathizers left and right if I was His Majesty. They just called the bluff of His Royal Highness, so now what is he going to do about it?

Now, I do believe that we (as in the US) need to make a damn decision. Are we fighting ISIS or are we not fighting ISIS?
