As an IMA, do I need a letter of release from my unit to get into an ADOS tour? Is this approved through MODCOP?

I am trying to get into an ADOS tour with a unit. I’m an IMA soldier that fulfilled my requirements for the fiscal year (IDT days and annual training).
The unit informed me that they need a letter stating f release from the unit. I thought that this was approved through tour of duty (MODCOP)?
Did anyone experience this?

Yep ... Because you're an IMA.
Per the "Mobilization Bible" (the AMDR)
Per AR 140-145, IMA Soldiers must have express written consent from their assigned IMA agency allowing them to perform a tour of duty outside their assigned IMA agency. This is to be part of the Force Requestor request or it will be returned without action. The IMA Soldier is subject to transfer out of their IMA agency should they inadvertently be placed on tour without their IMA agency consent.
This is part of the OCAR's previous stance that USAR soldiers that are brought onto voluntary active duty orders that do not support their unit of assignment will be transferred to the IRR while on those orders. This is because of "shadow Soldiers" having an impact on personnel strength at the unit (if you're on AD orders but still occupying a slot, then it's not vacant as far as the RC personnel system is concerned).
Specific to the IMA's, the intent is the same, but the procedure is different (The unit the IMA is support needs to acknowledge that the IMA is going to go on AD orders for a while).
