Last month my unit held its annual refresher training. I feel as though the classes are stagnant and there is no new information being given or techniques and advice we haven't heard ten times before. I was curios on how other units put together their training. This year I taught Personnel Airdrop with an evaluator and for the first time in ten years of my attendance instead of concentrating on rigging and just looking at the retrieving options of a towed parachutist, we actual used scenario based malfunctions and asked where would you keep that equipment? It was a very great class to be part of and really made you think about the location of 5,000lb straps and other equipment you may need. It went beyond the TPRS, retrieval bar, and 5,000 pound strap retrieval methods.
