Don't let anyone decide for you what you want to do!! Go for it. If it doesn't work out at least you tried. Better to say later in life you tried rather than you wish you had.

Don’t have a break in service

Make no assumptions or have any expectations because it’s a waste of time, no experience is ever as you imagine it will be and military-wise it’s usually worse.

Patience

If I had it to do over again I wouldn't. I would be too afraid to mess things up even worse.

Invest, stay in school, and stay healthy!

Become a public speaker and share the true stories of Vietnam, that except for the politicians and media, we achieved outstanding victories.

When my unit was authorized "release from active duty" back to reserve status I wish I had shipped over to active duty. Even knowing that one of my favorite Chiefs died in a deck fore on the Oriskany fire.

Be willing to take more risks.
