I would have taken the commission they offered me

Reenlist, take bonus and E-6 promotion. I should have stayed for 20 years.

join the air force or the air guard

Get divorced sooner and don't trust the NCOs to have my back.

I wasn't a screw up but I didn't take military life seriously enough. If I had I might have made rate quicker and stayed in has a career. That being said the military helped me grow up.

Keep your mouth shut and your mind open. Do not try to figure out why anything is the way it is. Learn the what and how. It will come together as you learn. Ask lots of questions especially about the military life as it applies to your marital status. It is just as important to your family.

WORK ON BOTH MY MILITARY EDUCATION AND START WORKING ON MY COLLEGE DEGREE SOONER.

Stay in until retirement. Then go do what you want and get a part time job, if necessary, to meet your standard of living.

Accept the training and career opportunity that you were offered when you first reported aboard ship.

If I could back in time my advise to myself………watch out for that trip wire that’s a few feet up the trail. I didn’t so I got blasted.
