Beware of the three most dangerous things in the Navy: A Yeoman with muscles, a Boatswain's Mate with brains, and an Ensign with a pencil!

I would tell myself to get out after my first enlistment instead of staying in for 20 years.

In 1962 I was fresh out of college, single, not a teacher, and #1 on the draft list in Peoria, Illinois. so I took the Army Recruiter's advice and enlisted in the Army Security Agency. I eventually qualified as a Korean Linguist and spent 16 months in Korea. Got good duty. Given what happened in the coming years in Vietnam, the recruiter gave me good advice.

Have fun! But everyone doesn't need to know it.

Work harder to become more proficient in my MOS. Listen to my NCOs and SNCOs to learn from their experiences.

Listen to that within -- those dreams, that inner voice -- be free to be yourself, express yourself, speak your mind and follow you heart. Pursue your dreams, and remember you are the Leading Lady of your life! Find mentors to help you along the way, and grow, grow and help others along.
