Looking back, I wouldn’t change a damn thing.
US Navy (4 years) right out of high school was the best thing I could have done. No college. 6 years as a police officer followed by 31 years as an airline pilot. Married now for 55 years with 2 great kids.
One lucky dude here.

Keep in touch with your branch and take an advanced course every time you PCS.

Don't get married!

I would go back to the mid 90’ and tell myself to take a certain job I was offered.

Stay in the Army, save every penny you can towards retirement, buy houses at every duty station that you can, and rent them out when you leave.

You not only survive, you thrive

Wait to marry and don’t mistake what you enjoy doing with what would make a good career.
