Looking back on your first enlistment would you say it was fast or slow?

I have to agree with SCPO (Join to see). Spent almost two years in schools to start out. I actually arrived at my first duty station 3 days short of my two year anniversary. After that it started to fly and the pace just seems to get faster as the years go by.

It started out rather slow as I spent almost 2 years in schools. Once I got to my first ship the pace picked up quite a bit, and has been flying by ever since.

Not just my first enlistment, the entire twenty years went by quickly. One day I was a know nothing boot camp and before I knew it I was a Navy Chief being piped ashore for the last time “Never to sail on Naval Ships again”.
