SPC Utykanski, check out this website http://www.usace.army.mil/PrimePowerSchool.aspx

I'm a student at the school, just started last month. I can't tell you exactly what it will be like after graduation, but I can probably answer questions about the school. It is a year at FLW and then you will go to one of three duty stations; Bragg, Belvoir, or Schofield Barracks. You will be automatically promoted to SGT upon graduation or you can be promoted in your current MOS if you meet all requirements while in school.

To add to the great points made by Capt Brandon Charters -- we have several members on RallyPoint who are at Prime Power School right now, both as cadre and students! How awesome is that. You should really connect with them via RallyPoint and ask for some advice, etc. This includes unit leaders as well as multiple SPCs who are students there right now, just like you would be. I will tag them as well: 1SG (Join to see) - SFC (Join to see) - SFC (Join to see) - CW2(P) (Join to see) - SGT (Join to see) - SGT (Join to see) - SGT (Join to see) - SGT (Join to see) - SPC (Join to see) - SPC (Join to see)

Gentlemen tagged above, can some of you help give insights/advice to SPC (Join to see) as he is looking at Prime Power School? Thanks in advance!

SPC (Join to see) -- glad to see you are asking this question to the RP community, as changing MOS's can be a very significant decision in your career. I am going to tag two Career Counselors (both RP members) here on this thread to see if they have any advice on this, because 'what you do' while at Fort Leonard Wood could be less important in the long term vs. how well that MOS sets you on the career trajectory you want. SGM Matthew Quick and SSG Joaquin Goicoechea may be better suited than me to speak to that MOS and what they are seeing from their foxholes. Best of luck to you, and keep us posted on your progress, SPC (Join to see)

Looking to Change MOS's, what exactly would a Prime Power Specialist do on Fort Leonard Wood?

Great question SPC (Join to see). Hit the 'Advanced' search button (top right) and search the MOS for Prime Power Specialist 12P and location of Fort Leonard Wood. I found 6 members that were currently stationed there with that MOS. I would connect with these members directly and ask them in case they don't see this thread. Wishing you the best of luck with the possible MOS change!

You bet. Let me know if for some reason you need any assistance navigating the advanced search. It's a neat tool to use for inquiries like this.

In a nutshell, you'll be a college student the first four months, a vocational school student the next four, and a mixture of both the last four. You'll then be sent to one of the three locations SPC Espada mentioned.

The first four months are fairly fast paced, but it is not unreasonable. If you do not have a strong background in math/physics it would be beneficial to take a Algebra refresher class prior to the school start date.

Or rather a Prime Power Sgt for that matter as coming out of school that would me put me around promotion TIR

SPC Utykanski, aside from the 1 year you will be at school at The Prime Power School at FLW, there are no other assignments for MOS 12P other than Instructor/Writer. You would not be able to get those slots until you make the rank of SSG and gained more experience in the field. Your initial options would most likely be Ft. Bragg, Ft. Belvoir or Schofield Barracks.

To add to SFC Land that also means you'll have to go back there for ALC and SLC if you make it that far.
