I'm a 91B at Fort Hood, Tx looking to reclass maybe to the electrical field but I'm also trying to get promoted but my points are sky high as a mechanic, what are some MOS out there where I can get promoted?

11B , points are always at 39 for sergeant. If you want to get promoted all you have to do is not be a shithead and do your job. Pretty simple

Downside though is with the Army downsizing, which could affect him later on. When I was in an FA unit, artillerymen couldn't even reenlist in their own MOS.

If I was you and I was at one point when I decided to re-class. I would go with a MOS that you really like and can continue into civilian life. If you are trying to get promoted fast than look into talking college classes. Just because you want to fast track doesn't mean you will enjoy the job(mos). My first MOS was 13P and there isn't a civilian job that requires my artillery skills, therefore I picked to re-class to 88M which is a truck driver. I would pick something that you really like and can get some educational benefit from it.

Agree. People choose jobs because it's easy to get promoted in, I have had a few Soldiers do that. But they are not thing of when the ETS or retire.
