Searching for your next opportunity can be overwhelming, which is why in Maine, we like to keep it simple. “The Way Life Should Be” is not just our motto, it’s our way of life. You’ve served your country, now let the State of Maine serve you.
As you prepare to transition from military service to civilian life, let the “Maine Hire-a-Vet” Campaign assist you! Since 2015, more than 300 employers have hired over 700 veterans and spouses through this annual campaign. Will you be next?
Maine has the lowest unemployment rate among veterans in the entire country, exempts military pensions from the state’s income tax, and offers over 20 state-run programs and resources for veterans and their families – It’s “The Way Life Should Be”.

I love Maine. For any of you outdoor types, there's really no better place. I recently learned that for veterans with a 50%+ disability rating, you get lifetime fishing and hunting licenses.
"A disabled veteran who has a service connected disability evaluated at 50% or more may obtain a complimentary license to fish, trap, hunt, including archery, muzzleload, bear, migratory bird, pheasant, spring/fall wild turkey, coyote night hunt, crossbow, one expanded archery antlerless deer permit, one expanded archery either sex permit, and upon meeting the qualifications, a license to guide.
This license is available to disabled veterans who are residents of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
This license(s) remains valid for the life of the license holder, as long as the license holder continues to satisfy the residency requirements in Title 12, section 10001, subsection 53, and the license is not revoked or suspended."

Do you live in Maine, SSG? We also have a Disabled Veteran Controlled Moose Hunt for veterans who are 50% or more disabled. Below is a photo from a hunt two weeks ago!

Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services I do not but I should. I think I split most of my weekends between NH and ME for fishing, hiking, skiing and road trips.

Each employer hired in average 2-3 people. What industries were they hired into?

Yes, sir. I encourage you to check out our website:
https://www.maine.gov/veterans/benefits/employment/occupational-licensing.html
Since 2012, Maine's Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (DPFR) has led an initiative to accelerate the licensing process for veterans. The program allows for quicker, easier licensing for veterans who have demonstrable military experience in the areas of: boiler repair, plumbing, electrical and fuel.
Maine also recently made changes to employment in health care. All veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, who completed health care related military training while in the Armed Forces, may utilize their military credentials when seeking civilian employment!
