As you prepare to transition from military service to civilian life, let the “Maine Hire-a-Vet” Campaign assist you! Since 2015, more than 300 employers have hired over 700 veterans and spouses through this annual campaign. Will you be next?
Maine has the lowest unemployment rate among veterans in the entire country, exempts military pensions from the state’s income tax, and offers over 20 state-run programs and resources for veterans and their families – It’s “The Way Life Should Be”.

Since 2012, Maine's Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (DPFR) has led an initiative to accelerate the licensing process for veterans. The program allows for quicker, easier licensing for veterans who have demonstrable military experience in the areas of: boiler repair, plumbing, electrical and fuel.
Maine also recently made changes to employment in health care. All veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, who completed health care related military training while in the Armed Forces, may utilize their military credentials when seeking civilian employment!
Several insurance agencies took part in Maine's 2017 Hire-A-Vet Campaign and we also have agencies participating in our current campaign. We encourage Maine Mutual Group to join!

On a more serious note....what is the market looking like for experienced phlebotomists? What about US Army trained Environmental Surveillance Specialists? What is the cost of living? State Income Tax rate? What is the Primary and Secondary Education system look like? Healthcare system? Crime rate? I mean, practically a 2.5 jobs per vet ratio is nice and all, but what other incentives are there to get me to Maine?
