I am giving a lot of thought to attempting a Warrant Officer Packet. Being an 11C (Mortarman) my choices are limited. So, like most in my position I have chosen 153A Rotary Wing Pilot. I love my profession but being that I enlisted late in life (31 to be exact) I am looking forward as to what will benefit me more when I decide to ETS and what is something I would really enjoy doing. Any guidance, experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.

All I have to say is that those in National Guard should confirm that there are openings for Warrant Officers. If I were to go Warrant, I'd be promoting myself out of a job.

I did in 1963, the best move ever made. Made CW4 in less than 20 years of service.
I was a 632A, Senior Maintenance/Logistic Officer, all good other than the year and a half in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. Overall the best duty in the Military.

Retired in 1978with 20+ years and doing very well. Never turn down an opportunity to

to serve in the Warrant Officer Corp.

Good Afternoon to all. I am about to ask a couple questions and would prefer some honest feedback. I am a 12 year SSgt in the USAF and have been getting my package and paperwork together to become a Warrant. I work in the Air Trans field and would match up the 882A perfectly. Does anyone on here have prior knowledge of AF seeking to leave and become a Warrant. I have plenty of real deployments working joint missions as well as operations. Any help would be wonderful.

CW2 Welby, Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I have been in work and prepare mode and had not made the time to respond. Oh, I also am tring the good father routine. Just yesterday I was accepted to attend WOCS and currently working through the weees to prepare myself prior to more information from Ft. Knox. Thank you for responding and if you are able to throw any advice my way, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am also considering switching from enlisted to warrant as 92A but was told by a CW3 to waite until I hit around 9 years due the downsize in the Army. I meet all the requirements and antoher issue I am facing is that I am overseas (SWA) on a joint assignment with no senior warrant officers, any thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

No one messes with the Chief, do it. I thought there was an age cut off for aviators, I think its 33, if you enlisted at age 31, your clock is definitely ticking down.

If you are too late for aviation, look at the feeder MOSs and prereqs for technical WOs. Good luck!

I am now considering Warrant as one of my options for career advancement. I'd never considered it before but I've realized that I must be open to change to see what paths I have the possibility to take towards my career progression.

I have a meeting on Monday with a CW3 to weigh the pros and cons of the Warrant program.

Just a FYI update on the Warrant Officer cutoff for submission of packets. I am going to try and fast track this and hopefully have my packet submitted. I greatly appreciate all of the feedback, advice and experiences that everyone has shared. Message on the USAREC website:

http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/

18 NOV 13 - Deadline for the JANUARY board is EXTENDED to 27 DEC 13 for the following MOSs: 150U, 153A, 352N, 352S, 353T, 880A, and 881A. Bottom Line: We are still short applicants applying for 150U, 153A, 352N, 352S, 353T, 880A, and 881A! If you have the prerequisite experience for these Warrant Officer MOS' and the desire to submit a packet, then your chances of being selected on the second board of FY 14 is extremely HIGH!
