How many think military service should be mandatory for every able bodied citizen?
After serving this country along with every male in my family going back to the civil war, I am inclined to say I think it should be mandatory.
I also think our country would be a little less cavalier about use of our troops if we all had a stake.

As we begin to transistion in to a Peacetime Force
I personally feel that a majority of the upstanding and mature youth of today are being steered away from military service due to an overwhelmingly negative public opinion, due to the 13+ years of war....
I think that every able bodied youth 17-21 should serve 2 years.
With the several different services and endless career choices, I also see it as a way of preparing the youth for the future.
Adjustments to entitlements awarded due to satisfactory service would need to be made. ( MGIB, VA and others.....)
I am wondering what are the thoughts of others here?
