Mandatory Voting in the US?

I think this is an interesting idea making voting mandatory. I would certainly put power back in the hands of the people. However, I could see things going awry in many different ways as well. What are your thoughts?

President Obama suggests "FORCED VOTING" for Americans... how does THAT grab you?

So, our illustrious president has suggested "forced voting" for Americans. How do YOU feel about that? Being FORCED to vote for candidates you may or may not support?

I understand Americans should vote. No question about that. But FORCED?

Smells like communism. Socialism. Doesn't smell American at all.
