I was medically retired 2017 because of “PTSD”
that occurred back in 11-12 OEF.( no direct combat, my buddy was killed) and I went to talk to a doctor while I was in combat because he was killed. I was diagnosed when I was going through a regular ets. So here I am 3 years later wanting to go in to the NG or AR. Is there anyway I can give up this retirement or put it on hold to joined? I think I have a compelling argument on why I should be able to serve and I am in way better shape than most service member(not hating just take care of my body). Can some point me to a board where I can ask/ apply for a waiver.

I know you can join the RC if you're receiving disability you just have to waive payment from one of the sources.

I do not believe you can be removed from medical retirement, even temporarily, in order to serve in the RC. But I'm not a NG or USAR recruiter, which is who you should speak to

It depends.
Were you added to the PDRL or TDRL?
What is your RE code?
Have you discussed this information with a recruiter to get clarification?
I understand the desire to serve but it all depends on the details of your medical retirement. It will be difficult to make happen though and it isn't a guarantee that there is a payoff. I was medically retired in 2012 and looked into the same thing and was unable to do so due to my status and RE Code.

I would look at alternative means to serve your community. CAP, State reserve if your State has one, reserve law enforcement, volunteer or reserve fire fighter. There are plenty of things you can do to make a difference instead of trying to get blood from this particular stone.

Sorry, I understand but does it look like my question is fake? Really don’t want my information out like that especially if I don’t know if I will be able to get back in.
