After a few posts about racism, this struck a nerve. I realize all politicians try to cover every segment of American society...but doesnt this promote the divisiveness in our country?
does this contribute to the problems we have in America, or is this the equivalent of tailoring your resume to a specific job??

Politicians are going to do what they're going to do to garner votes. Like it or not, the average American self identifies with his race like he does a sports team. Until we get rid of all labels except "human", this will continue to be standard practice.

SFC Michael Hasbun - Staff; But then you'd have to admit that the people in other countries were (essentially) the same as you are and that would take the fun out of talking about killing them.

COL Ted Mc - They ARE the same as us. Tribalism, racism, religion and nationalism are just ways to convince ourselves otherwise..

SFC Michael Hasbun 0 Staff; Of course they are. However there are some people who simply don't want to acknowledge that fact.

I would venture to bet that - if there was a government which kept its extractions from the citizenry at a level that the citizenry could afford, provided enough of the basis services of live so that all of the citizenry could get on with their lives/family/leisure, and stayed sufficiently in the background that it didn't annoy people - over 90% of the populace wouldn't care WHAT form that government took.

I can honestly say that I have NEVER looked at race when casting my vote. I simply vote for the best man or woman... and in many cases that person is someone that served within the United States Armed Services.

SFC Michael Hasbun - Snopes has been proven to have a left leaning bias, and is unreliable.
