No i do not ask for the discount. I did not do it on active duty and i dont do it now as a retired Seabee. If they can tell by my USAA card or if they see my Goventment issued ID in my wallet then i will take it but i wont ask for it. It makes me uncomfortable when people ask for it i have friends that do it everywhere and they get pissed when they get turned down.

Everywhere. The grocery store, clothes, hotels. Everyone likes to save money, and I think that some companies get a sense of satisfaction from providing the discount. Most places make you ask for it, but I've never encountered anyone that was upset about actually giving it to me.

Not only do I always remember to ask, I have created a website so I could share my information with other veterans https://veteranbargains.com/
I currently lists over 400 businesses that appreciate our service. On Veterans Day I listed a couple of hundred places offering freebies, discounts and promotions. check out last years list: https://veteranbargains.com/veterans-day-2019-offers-1
