Right now I receive w/dep rate for BAH, COLA, etc here in Hawaii. First time in my career I've lived on base housing (living with the Navy's housing). They have an allotment to take my full BAH.

But my wife is National Guard. If she comes onto active orders for a year (ADOS), I have to reduce my BAH to single as well as COLA.

I live in Senior Enlisted housing but she's a field grade officer.

Will they kick me out of housing to go to officer housing for a year? Adjust our lease to only take her BAH instead? Continue to take mine at the married rate? How does that work?  No one here seems particularly familiar with outcome.

Do you all have kids?  That changes everything a bit.  Otherwise, you'd submit the DA 5960 to change your status to without dependents.  Although, I will say as a former Guard technician in military pay that it is very unlikely they will be able to tell that you two are dual military because of the incapability of the two systems (AC/RC) with each other.  Housing won't kick you out, because you are still married.

No kids. But will housing make you just redo the lease to be under her name since she makes more money? I guess I thought they might force us to move into officer housing

I doubt it.  They probably won't know her rank unless you tell them.

When a dual military couple resides in military housing (government owned or PPV), the BAH of the senior service member should be forfeited as payment for the housing.  The lesser BAH remains for the family’s use.

unsure on the area of base housing

Again unsure about that - I've been out since 07 and only lived in base housing once in 20 years.  I would however like to know.  Good Luck in finding the answer
