Veterans like me are supporting Donald Trump because he will do what is necessary to clean up the Veterans Administration to stymie the bureaucrats who think the VA was built to enrich them instead of helping the veterans who have borne the battles, their widows and orphans. They also believe he will strengthen the military instead of continuing to weaken it and will put veterans and active duty military first and foremost instead of making empty promises and doing nothing.

Trump has his hands full! Politics is neck deep within our civil service and no longer as controllable as it was within its conception. Union kickbacks to political allies give then oversight protection much larger than you could ever imagine! Standards set in employees proformaces are mute and non existent and the hierarchy of leadership has been from this corp of employees for decades. Hire 6000 and fire 3 is right in tune with Union standards! One may consider this as corruption, but in past leadership practices this is very acceptable! If standards were imposed, who would be professional enough to enforce them? And there is the problem! Unions aren't within the field of improved standards and feather bedding is! It will take congressional closures, unions hierarchy exposure and reduced authority to bring back sound management practices. Advancement requires a union approval of selection and grievances can be prolonged for years in protecting employees. We need a Reagan like approach to a very bad situation and just out and out start firing top level leadership by the hundreds and replacing them with proven leaders who are improvement motivated! If a files clerk's standards say 10 digits and he does 10 then his evaluation should state meets standards only and if he does a consistently more, than it should say exceeds! If he isn't performing, one warning and then evaluate his abilities based only on performances and if not able to secure production, fire them! You will see a rapid increase in production and a much higher skills level appear and maybe exchange the atmosphere to a more professional one! Side effects would be less employees, more production, less loss of time through error and higher and better selection of suitable future leaders!

TSgt Frank Shirley - What you say about people within the VA system usually applies to mid-level management trying to climb higher on the backs of others. I have been living in the finest VA Nursing Home in the USA for over two years and this it something you rarely see in the medical staff. It is part of the VA bureaucratic mentality and unless it can be changed VA medical treatment will eventually end up in civilian hands. Since WW TWO I have had both VA and outside care and I prefer VA care by a country mile even with all its problems.

For one, would you want someone that been lying and causing problems and alarming how she misused her computer sending classified and also secrecurity messays on that anyone could of gotten them and maybe they did that's why the ambassador and others were killed and than she blamed it on a movie. How much does she get away with and not be held accountable for what she done wrong. For me if I would do something like she did I be in prison now due to I'm not rich by no means, so why does it always have to be how powerful a person is before they get into the big house for there wrong doings. Just don't understand the laws anymore some get in trouble others never do. It's mind boggling.

I'm more baffled by anyone supporting either party. Both parties screw the military equally.

Thru out history with the exception of President Roosevelt (WWII). Democrats have a history of cutting military to the bone while placing all their energy in domestic issues such as welfare. Republicans on the other hand are pro military. The largest military pay increase came into play when Richard Nixon took office and the cold war build up.

Perhaps you forgot that JFK was a former naval officer, and a Democrat.

He did pretty damn well during the Russian Missile Crisis......and as an officer.

The really interesting thing about JFK, if he was alive and in politics today, with the same ideology he had as President, he would be a middle of the road Republican. He was pro military, cut taxes, not a liberal at all in the common interpretation of a liberal by today's standards. He actually was pretty much like Reagan.

The last four presidents have used the United States Military complex to push their special interest agenda, put our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and America in general in harms way, and fettered our military when they need to be cut free to do what their trained to do.
