See this report - it will make your blood boil...

I am currently on TFL because of disability, and I'm glad, because this plan, if enacted, presumes that "working age" military retirees can afford to pay lots more for the "Free for life" health care we were promised... and I only have 10 years until I'm retirement age for Medicare.

I feel very sorry for all the Active Duty folks and younger retirees who will be taken to the cleaners.

It is very clear that the goal of this is to ensure that people do not stay in the military for a career. The end result of this plan, if enacted, is that readiness is going to take a huge hit.

I pray we don't ever have to go to war against a true threat against our country, because we won't have enough troops to go there.

Doesn't sound great, LCDR Jaron Matlow. I never got anything in writing, but I have been told that my health care as a military member and a retiree was for life. They're changing that, mid-stream, as it were.

I think I agree with you that at least part of the "goal" here is to discourage people from staying in until retirement. I'm a few years away from TRICARE for Life. I hope I make it there, health wise and finance wise.

Thanks for the link!

I hope you do too... I'm actually looking to go back to work this year. Previously I would have ignored any offered health benefits from potential employers; now - I think I'll take a closer look, I may need them after all...
