Ah yes, we've all seen them; "so, there you were" in a theater or a room full of service members or veterans, one minute everything's ok, then all of a sudden there it is... the over-the-top military movie discrepancy! So, what was that moment that stands out most in your mind? What are those associated memories or stories that come to mind? Did the base theater erupt into 'chaos' over an unkempt/incorrect uniform, improper language/jargon/ customs, or was there something that was just plain 'unsat' from a military point-of-view. lol Well, there's a ton of them out there, and I'm pretty sure that something should immediately come to mind, so what are we waiting for? Quick, pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thanks for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but the movie "Enemy of the State" frustrated me.

They moved an imagery satellite in order to get video on Will Smith as he was running through the city. This is absolutely ludicrous.
Moving a satellite uses fuel. The life span of a satellite is dependent on how much fuel it has. No way he was such a valuable target that they completely moved this satellite out of it's orbital slot to get imagery on a target moving through the city, let alone a live feed of it showing him running clear as day. A drone, sure I could see that. An IMINT bird, get outta town!

Spoiler Alert for American Horror Story, Season 4, Last Episode: [you were warned]

Although not a military movie, American Horror Story has a scene at the end of the fourth season where a character fires a five (possibly six) round revolver a total of 12 times. 12 shots, he types for emphasis! The pistol was maybe a .38 or .357 with a 2" barrel. The character has no rounds in his pockets and never empties the cylinder. For even more entertainment value, I notice that at one point, he pulls the hammer back twice between shot one and two. Action begins at 10:14 in the last episode of season four. Gruesome and NSFW.

SSgt Worrell, how would you like having "Smart" as a surname? When I married my ex, we were both on active duty, and everyone took to calling him 86 and me 99. LOL!

Every submarine movie except "das Boot". That includes Crimson Tide. Mutiny on a boomer? You know NOTHING about submarine crews.

so wait...your saying that "The Hunt for Red October" sucks too?! Man..I remember seeing that one at the theater next to the Exchange in Norfolk. Should of heard all the squids hollering when the sub did the emergency blow and breached the surface...you have basically just ruined my perception of the sub service.

Do not even try to tell me that Down Periscope isn't accurate. I don't think I could take anymore let downs today. :)

It's not a lack of humor, PO3 (Join to see)! It's the "discrepancies"!

I love BOTH of those sub shows.

And living through an Emergency Blow (EB) is QUITE an experience, that is the TRUTH!!!!

Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. The ships they bombed were Spruance class destroyers. Didn't exist then

The end of "An Officer and a Gentleman" when he gets on his motorcycle, no helmet, and rides off into the sunset. No military member on any military base, anywhere, anytime, would be caught riding with no helmet. It would pretty much mean the end of their motorcycle privilege on base.

The Rock (the film) -- Marines wearing berets. Actually pretty much any modern military movie featuring dudes wearing berets into combat. And pretty much EVERY movie with berets has the person wearing it all jacked up like a chef hat.

One more addition... In Armageddon the USAF SSgt who told the NASA employee to "cease and desist"... 1st USAF Security Forces do not say Cease and Desist, never said it in my 21 years... 2nd, we are not rocket scientists or computer hackers that can re-engage a nuclear weapon.

In one of the Alien vs Predator movies the military nukes the town with a MK83 1000 lbs general purpose bomb with a F-22. There would have been a decent boom when it went off but not wipe out an entire town like it did.

As a former military physician, it's the over-the-top UNSAFE actions of the EOD guy "hero" of the movie in HURT LOCKER. After just ONE stunt like he pulled he would have been sent home for a psych eval. DOC ENZ
