Ah yes, we've all seen them; "so, there you were" in a theater or a room full of service members or veterans, one minute everything's ok, then all of a sudden there it is... the over-the-top military movie discrepancy! So, what was that moment that stands out most in your mind? What are those associated memories or stories that come to mind? Did the base theater erupt into 'chaos' over an unkempt/incorrect uniform, improper language/jargon/ customs, or was there something that was just plain 'unsat' from a military point-of-view. lol Well, there's a ton of them out there, and I'm pretty sure that something should immediately come to mind, so what are we waiting for? Quick, pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thanks for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Jack Parr once shared a joke that the Army had developed an Atomic Hand Grenade. It had a bursting radius of 25 meters. The only problem is that a soldier could only throw it 10 meters.

I remember that story every time I see a hand grenade depicted in a movie. I now know where all those Atomic Hand Grenades went to. Although, movie stars seem to be able to lob them much farther

Tears of the Sun wasn't that bad....although it was pretty much a rehash of The Wild Geese (which WAS a badass movie)....

A beret was worn with the flash over the ear.

Hands down “Basic” but “Hurt Locker” and “Green Zone” deserve mention because they present themselves as “accurate depictions” of the realities of the contemporary battlefields.
A few buddies now do military consulting for Hollywood and they all say that regardless of what they recommend, what ends up on film is entirely up to the director’s “creative vision” and what the producers think will market best. Many directors like Michael Bay and Michael Mann have begun to pay more attention to the details and advice from their SMEs but the audience still craves the ridiculous explosions and other audio and visual effects they associate with a firefight. Perfect examples are “13 Hours”, “American Sniper”, “12 Strong”, and “Lone Survivor”, but in all those cases they had 1st hand information and accounts to go by.
Honestly, I just chuckle to myself at the little stuff, try to remember I’m watching it to be entertained and only offer my critique if asked by my family and non-military friends

The invisible re arming of an in flight F-16 in the movie Iron Eagle. Here a 14 year old kid takes off in an F-16, flies all the way to Sandboxia, to rescue his dad, with no wing fuel tanks, no onboard munitions, and some how he gets more weapons to deploy for four bombing runs. All out of the clear blue sky! USAF weapons troops are good, but flying along side an F-16, and re arming it inflight with no wespons loading truck or trailer. Please Hollywood, remember that we (USAF maintance/weapons troops) see these fantasy stories ans catch those FUBAR scenes!
