Ah yes, we've all seen them; "so, there you were" in a theater or a room full of service members or veterans, one minute everything's ok, then all of a sudden there it is... the over-the-top military movie discrepancy! So, what was that moment that stands out most in your mind? What are those associated memories or stories that come to mind? Did the base theater erupt into 'chaos' over an unkempt/incorrect uniform, improper language/jargon/ customs, or was there something that was just plain 'unsat' from a military point-of-view. lol Well, there's a ton of them out there, and I'm pretty sure that something should immediately come to mind, so what are we waiting for? Quick, pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thanks for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Hell, any John Wayne movie. His six-shooters all held 10-15 rounds - no matter what movie it was!!

In 1966/67 time frame my unit had a USO show that starred Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans. We showed Roy Rodgers an M60 Machine gun,he cracked a joke sbout how he would not have needed it in his movies,as those 50 round six shooters only ran out of bullets when the director wnated to show Roy in a fist fight with the bad Guys.

It's a special LAW using high pressure fruit juice. A kinder gentler LAW. Sort of a rule instead of a LAW!

The Core, crap sci-fi movie, but the thing that drives me insane is the three minutes that Hilary Swank is in uniform, she's wearing these small hoop earrings. I just want throw something at the screen.

On the show Burn Notice there's a character portrayed by Bruce Campbell named Sam Axe who in the show is an ex-Navy SEAL. There's a few occasions where Bruce Campbell is in uniform, and as much as I love the man as an actor he has absolutely zero military bearing whatsoever. It was pretty obvious that the man had never been given any kind of instruction on how military men talk, move, provide customs and courtesies, and really do just about anything military related.

In the series finale he was in his officer whites and not wearing his Trident despite mentioning he was a SEAL EVERY time his Navy career was brought up.

The sun was setting in the west in CA where filmed, but he was "on the east coast of RVN" in the movie.

Maybe Stargate thought that was the proper insignia for a Sergeant Major.

In the spring of 1968, I was a student at the US Army Special Warfare School at Ft Bragg just prior to deploying to Vietnam as an advisor. The movie shown in the post theater was "The Green Berets" with John Wayne. The audience was filled to capacity with SF soldiers who had earned their green berets, many of whom had been "across the pond". The catcalls, boos, hissing, laughter and complaining were extremely loud and constant! The errors were too numerous to remember! Today, almost fifty years later, it is still my most memorable movie experience ever!

That's an example of a movie that I classify as bad but still entertaining. It's a horrible film but the characters make it fun to watch, especially Jeff Goldblum - "Ooops" ? What's "oops"? No more "oops.'

Does it go without saying: the ribbons and their placement, as Hollywood picks them solely on their colors.

Interceptor - 1993 movie where terrorists hijack a C-5 by climbing down the interior of a KC-135 boom and cutting a hole in the fuselage...then the hero evades the terrorists by climbing through the miles of hidden crawl spaces in the aircraft -- followed by a F-117 "dogfight" that ensues after the aircraft are airdropped off the C-5 ramp...wings unfolded (ha) and engines started during the flat-spin freefall to earth. This one's hard to beat.
