What is the most unorthodox civilian job you've seen an active duty SM performing?

For example: My E7 platoon sergeant owed a lot of child support. So on weekends, he worked at Baskin Robbins. And sometimes served popcorn at the AAFES movie theater.

At Campbell, an E7 in my company was working nights and weekends at my neighborhood Blockbuster.

If he has time to work at Blockbuster, couldn't he use that time to study or whatever to make E8 or Warrant Officer so he can make more money and more pension?

SGM Jeff Mccloud
SPC July Macias - He was a new E7, and back then we didn't have online college, or evening classes.
And at the time he needed to pay some steep fines.

Way back in 2017, a Navy SEAL warrant officer did part-time porn. His wife previously retired from porn, but resumed after her real estate ventures financially failed. He performed with her on film to reduce marital strife and production costs.

SPC July Macias - Let me confuse you even more. Tell me what the difference between a Navy Warrant and a Limited Duty Officer?

CPT Lawrence Cable - I have no idea. I didn't even know LDO ranks existed. I'm guessing it's like SP5 or such.

SPC July Macias - My son is Navy, but the nearest I can figure out is that it is a specialized Commissioned Officer that stays in that field his whole career, like we would a Warrant Officer, which the Navy has also. I don't think the Navy Warrants are in the Chain of Command, while the LDO's are included.
Took me forever to figure out Rate and Rank. I do know that the Navy enlisted are sensitive enough about it that an attempt to eliminate Rating caused a small but Navy wide mutiny.

Limited Duty Officers (LDOs)
As officer technical managers of the line or staff corps, LDOs progressively advance within broad technical fields related to
their former enlisted ratings. They fill leadership and management positions at the Ensign through Captain level that require
technical background and skills not attainable through normal development within other officer designators. LDOs serve as, but
are not limited to serving as, division officers, department heads, OICs, XOs and COs.
Chief Warrant Officers (CWOs)
Today, as commissioned officers of the line or staff corps, Navy CWOs possess the authority and are qualified by extensive
experience and knowledge to direct the most difficult and exacting operations within a given occupational specialty. Although
intended primarily as technical specialists, CWOs may also serve as division officers, department heads, and OICs.

Would be awkward as heck if you serve drinks to one of your soldiers, and he doesn't tip you. Or he committed a DUI.

SPC July Macias - Cantonment at Irwin isn't that big. You could take someone's keys and they could walk to most of the housing.
