So I was on Instagram, searching pictures and I looked for the #ArmyStrong, for my surprise I found a lot of pictures of Soldiers using their PT Shirts as muscles shirts. I commented in a few asking if we were allowed, my comments were erased. They were SM, I saw pictures of them with their ACU's, out of all the shirts that you could cut and make a Muscle shirt, why would you use your PT's?

I don't understand why they would want to . . . I wear civilian PT's at every possible oportunity because, quite frankly, the Army PT's are garbage.

SGT (Join to see) one day I forgot to take off the headphones and like at my 3rd step out of the gym somebody in PT's told me to take them off. Since that day, no more headphones with PT's, in or out the gym.

SGT(P) (Join to see), ouch. There's nothing quite like hopping on a treadmill and zoning out to your favorite tunes for half an hour or so. I run my ass off to Dubstep remixes of classic game tunes.

I think that what bothers me is the fact that it is still a uniform and there is an AR for it's use. I think we should follow regs from the ACU's to the PT's. CMSgt (Join to see)

It's a uniform item, just like boots and boonie caps etc. It's when you start putting them together that it becomes a uniform. I remember when I was still active duty when we would go camping or hunting etc most of us would wear our BDU pants. We just didn't wear multiple parts of the uniform. I still wear my boonie caps when I'm out on the water or working outside. Obviously they are past the wear date now though.

670-1 actually has a list of uniform items than are authorized to be worn with civilian clothes or just by themselfs.
Look under 3-9 page 15. it will say this:

No part of a prescribed uniform, except those items not exclusively military in character, may be worn with
civilian clothing.

f. No part of a prescribed uniform, except those items not exclusively military in character, may be worn with civilian clothing
g. Uniform items authorized for wear with civilian clothing by males are restricted to the gold cuff links, studs, tibar, mourning band, footwear, socks, gloves, undergarments, black bow-tie, wool scarf, all-weather coat, fleece caps,
and physical training uniforms.

Hope that helps

I say no to it just for the simple fact that we are the same community that runs around screaming at folks for wearing our uniform in stolen valor videos. What gives us the right to shame the very thing we fight to uphold. Just don't be hypocrites I disapprove of stolen valor, the videos of stolen valor and the wearing of dated uniforms in a tasteless manner.

It's a t shirt. If it isn't while in uniform then so what.
Since we didn't have "pt" uniforms when I was in, I really don't get the whole need for such a thing anyway. If one is wearing appropriate clothing for the task at hand when why does a "pt" uniform need to exist? So everyone looks the same? I can see dress uniforms, I can see work uniforms....but pt, not so much.

When it's not worn as a part of a uniform ensemble it's not a uniform just like brown tshirts and boots.
People need to get their panties untwisted about shit that doesn't matter.

Who cares...They clearly aren't wearing them in formation. There are a lot more important things to soldiery than uniforms that are altered that will never see post... I mean guys altered bdu's to be more efficient in combat. The big picture is that we need to worry about being the best service member we can be by learning our trade and leaving the off line stuff off line.

SPC (Join to see) well, clearly, if I posted the discussion is because I do care. Not for soldiering but for learning purposes. As a first term Soldiers, there's a lot of things that I still have to learn. Let's say that I see those people, think that is authorized, do the same thing and the get corrected on the spot. I rather ask here, get feedback from experienced SM and avoid making mistakes than leaving the "off line things", that I saw online (Instagram), off line. Thanks for the response.

PFC. guidance on uniform wear and regulations concerning appearance can be found in AR 670. You being a PFC. Should be aware of this.
