As long as your DD 1610 authorizes you money for lodging you are fine. You’ll also need a statement of non availability from the course saying there are no rooms, or something similar stating that you will be lodged in barracks.
If your 1610 does not authorize lodging expenses, the Army will not reimburse you

SPC (Join to see) the memo is to authorize the funding on the 1610. If it already gives you the money then you’re good. Military lodging is usually around $50 a day. Make sure the lodging expense at the hotel matches the amount your 1610 authorized

Interesting, most MOS reclasses used to stay in the barracks but got 2 man rooms down the hall but it has been along time since I was at Leonardwood.

when I was at FLW for MP reclass as a 2LT, I stayed in a freaking Quonset hut and the latrine was 2 blocks away. Times sure have changed.

LTC (Join to see) - My first time at FLW was the Engineer Advanced course right after they had moved it from Belvoir. Now being an Infantry Officer, I was used to such classy quarters as the Quads at IOBC, where two LT's shared a room and four a bathroom. Here they had these brand new efficiency apartments within walking distance of the school. All the Officers that had done Basic at Belvoir were complaining, all I could think about was that Engineers got treated a LOT better than grunts.

If that is where your room reservation is, then you enjoy the comforts of a hotel and not the barracks.

That’s what my DTS says just making sure I won’t lose that reservation when I report I leave tomorrow so I’ll get there early so I assume I won’t because I’ll have already payed for the room till I leave my report date is Friday?

SPC (Join to see) - As long as you check into the hotel on the day the DTS says, you're good to go.

I have managed DTS at my unit. The short answer, yes. First, when you travel for military training the government lodging should be used. If you can't then you would get a "Statement of Non-Availability." With that you can stay in commercial lodging. The military will only pay you at the per diem rate for lodging. This can be built into your travel authorization. Since it is on the base I am sure they are below the rate and are preferred for lodging.
WARNING: If you get a welcome letter that says you are required to stay in government lodging and you don't have a "Statement of Non-Availability" the military will not reimburse you. I am going to a course soon and I made sure my welcome letter stated that I can stay off base in commercial lodging.

My welcome letter is completely wrong it states something about Ohio even though I’m going to Leonard wood. It says I’ll stay at RTI barracks even though there is no RTI at Leonard wood so idk what will happen as of right now the s4 is authorizing the hotel option but it still has to be signed by my brigade so idk if it’ll change or not but from what the s4 said I am an mos T they shouldn’t have an issue with me staying at the hotel. At least for my sake I hope I’m at the hotel I don’t want to deal with the dramas of AIT soldiers.

SPC (Join to see) Did you get a welcome letter from the school house? Your battalion can authorize it because they will come out of their funds. You just have to make sure it's approved in the authorization like you are saying. I will try to contact the school you're going to to get the right welcome letter.

Yea my company authorized it. The issue was Leonard wood sent a packing list and details from the RTI in Columbus Ohio it was wired when I asked my s3 he was like they said it was right so idk

SPC (Join to see) You should be good then. It sounds like your unit just used a welcome letter that was the same as the one you're going to in relation to a packing list. If your unit authorized it you should be good.
