Not good- 4=no re-admission in any service w/o HRC waiver- don't hold your breath JKK means Misconduct- Drug Abuse, that's going to hurt job searches particularly with PD's.

For a JKK separation code, DoD policy states that an under other than honorable conditions discharge is normally considered appropriate; however, a general (under honorable conditions) or an honorable discharge may be granted. Your husband dodged a bullet in regards to the characterization of his service.

As MSG (Join to see) stated, from a VA point of view, the only benefit impacted would be the G.I. Bill. The G.I. Bill is the only Benefit where you must have an Honorable separation (General under honorable conductions doesn't cut it), but everything else (disability compensation, etc.) remains eligible.

Best bet is to have him contact the VA rep/VSO closest to where you now reside, they will be able to provide the best and most current information for him about his benefits...best of luck to ya'll.

This is good advice.Your husband should be able to get the information needed to see what benefits he can qualify for!

What did your husband say his benefits would be? That is part of the chapter briefings/counselings given to him by the Commander per their recommendations. Now, as to what the higher ups say in agreement or taking away or adding benefits, that will be all part of the packet/paperwork. 95% sure your husband lost the GI Bill Education benefits. He may retain all of the other benefits. But again, it's going to be what was recommended and what was approved.

Janice Davis - Well....then that's that. However....if you really want to know/confirm, have your husband contact the VA and ask what benefits he will/will not be getting due to RE Code, Discharge Type and Separation Code.

Janice Davis - How long was he in the military? If he was discharged before he served at least 24 months of service, no VA benefits. The GI Bill stuff went away with the General Discharge
