I went to talk to my recruiter and he steered me away from a combat MOS to go to a 15 series. This is because I want to fly later on, but I really want to be in the action and not be repairing kinda seems boring. What are your guys thoughts?

RECRUTERS ARE LIARS AND CHEATS!!
They will talk you into a position that needs filled not want you want!!
GO INFANTRY AND GO AIRBORNE!!
When you get to the 82ns ABN DIV FT BRAGG NC. Go to the 82ND AVIATION BATTLION SGT MAJOR and request a transfer!! Then of course you have to be trained in the aviation MOS family!!!
GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED!!!

The truth is its up to you what you do. If you don't want 15 don't sign. But, don't blame your recruiter for trying to put you in an mos related to your future goals either. In all my service I would never call it boring if you are a professional. If trills are what you seek, perhaps the military isn't right for you.

A pilot needs to know their aircraft inside and out. If you “wrench” for a while you learn the guts of aircraft and will have a better relationship with your Crew Chief and maintenance providers.

Your Recruiter is not going to write your contract the Guidance Counselor at MEPS will after you pass the physical. The jobs offered will depend on the needs of the Army and training dates available. Combat Arms (Infantry) is a good choice if you want a little more adventure than hanging around a hangar. Best of Luck!

I love to joke about everything which is the one way I have to keep my sanity with everything I have dealt with in my my life. I have experienced things which you cannot possibly image. I love to joke that I have two mental problems heightened spatial awareness which means I notice things which the average person does not and eidetic memory so I remember many things the normal person does so I have a lot of fun with it. It is also the stuff of nightmare. I have been a combat soldier and worked the streets as a law enforcement officer so I experienced both I have had friends die in my arms in combat zones and on the street never believe that there is a difference in either place the mental trauma is the same.

My advice to you on why he would put you in the position of repairing helicopters for your mos before you switch your mos and become a pilot to fly 1,is only because you have an extra skill under your belt to know how to go about repairing 1 of the things when it only cranks when somebody doing fortnite dance moves or when it can only fly backwards when other soldiers are commissioned to ride with you.

Army recruiters are not missioned for specific MOS'. They get credit for number of people put in boots. It doesn't matter if they put in 100 11B or 100 98S. It is your career, choose the job you want. Street to Seat is there for a reason, if it wasn't possible, it wouldn't be a program. Degrees are not required to become a Warrant Officer. If your recruiter is not giving you the honest information, then ask the Station Commander for a different recruiter, better yet tell em you are going to go talk to the Guard or Marines.
Another note, wanting to be "in the action", there's not much action anymore, even for the 11B. If you want action you need to ask for an "Option 40" or MOS 18X contract. Those will get you Ranger and Special Forces, respectively. Rangers see action, SF sees some action, 11B provides security these days for SF.

You look kind of young and as an experienced Soldier with years of military and life trials and tribulations, I'll pass some knowledge along if you choose to accept. Don't let ANYONE in ANY circumstance make decisions for you if you have say so in the process. In this case, you need to take a good look inside yourself and be honest about what you want for yourself and what you want out of the situation. If you truly want to be part of the "action" I understand and support you because I wanted the same thing over 15 years ago and joined as an 11B. However, as others have mentioned, the "action" is not as glorious as you may think it to be. There are many ways to serve and every MOS contributes a specific skillset to the overall mission and the overall objective. Also, I recently completed an assignment leading Soldiers in AIT and you'd be surprised how many Soldiers show up claiming to be misguided by their recruiter. I don't believe that will be you because you're seeking knowledge from people who know about this and. i commend you for that. Get the facts before you make a decisions. Thats what good leaders do. I've also reclassed from 11B so I know from personal experience that opportunities will present themselves if you choose to go for an MOS that is not your first choice. Bottom line is if you want to serve then do it bu do something you like and do it and serve honorably.
