Regulating off duty civilian attire? Clean shaved appearance on leave? Do you believe the grooming standards are focusing on a specific ethnic group/groups? What are your thoughts on the direction the Army is heading towards

My first thought is how are NCOs supposed to police these changes when the Soldier is in a "leave" status? The regulating of off duty civilian attire I would say that a loose precedent would be the forbidding of piercings for male Soldiers whether in uniform or out; on duty or off. Lastly, which of these changes are "punitive"?

SGT Cozzolino, you are an NCO, you're charged with upholding the standards and being in the National Guard makes you no different than anyone else. You can't pick and chose what regs apply to you when you are at drill, annual training, MOS course etc. You carry a DoD issued military ID with you, it's not just for drill purposes, it's 24/7. Lead, follow or get out of the way Sergeant!

SGT Cozzolino, I am also in the National Guard. It is nonchalant attitudes like the one you just portrayed that often times provide active component Soldiers with reason to feel superior to National Guard Soldiers (who are held to the same standards, I might add) and we as NCOs should not nor can we allow for such dissident actions infiltrate our ranks. You must stow away your attitudes if you are to make a positive difference and influence on those Soldiers who are Junior to you and especially those under your charge.

I am sorry you feel that way about my attitude, but frankly its my opinion and this is a forum (where soldiers voice their opinion and share ideas). So by your comment everyone should think like you?
Anyways we know the army is downsizing, and transitioning into a garrison environment. I have no issue following the new standard or making my soldiers follow it. We are soldiers.
What's funny is none of new changes (tattoos, hair) even effect me. That being said I do not agree with the new regulations or changes to AR670-1, not only that but I also think it's racially biased against African American women.
Why was the regulations exceptable for the last 10 years but now its not?
We all can take leadership lessons and or advice, and I can assure as being an interrogator and HUMINTer who has deployed, the best approach for explaining your point to a soldier and or anyone is not always the direct approach. I can assure you that, that always doesn't change their mind. That's kinda like why torture is an illegal method of interrogation.
