I have heard that if you fail the APFT multiple times in a row, or are unable to train for more than the 48-hour allotted time; you will be recycled though and counted as a 'fail', if you pass the next try you can continue to commissioning the year after but if you do not recycle or fail again then you are out of luck.

This year? Getting caught with a phone at training. Disciplinary issues. Standards have been published this year, but like most things, there is a trial period with lots of room for retakes. Just graduated 5th Rgt AC

Attended Advanced Camp (although many years ago) and its not that demanding physically or mentally, but it is where they start weeding the garden. Its possible he had a bad UA or did poorly at medical screening. We had half a dozen cadets sent home because they admitted they were allergic to bee stings which was disqualifying then and probably now as well.

As it turns out the official reason was 'Voluntary Drop'. That is not what he told me yesterday so he has some explaining to do. I swear, youth is wasted on the young.

New officers and ROTC cadets, besides quitting, what would get a cadet sent home from Advanced Camp in less than 2 weeks? ?

So, a little more info. I have a relative who's coming home after 12ish days. He says that he was put in the PL slot, in garrison, and got a really bad evaluation so they "recommended" he go back home and come back next summer. I called BS on it. I mean, the purpose of the camp is to be evaluated. You may get a good eval or a bad one, but I've never heard of one being so bad that they sent someone home. After I spoke with him I got some info that he failed the APFT. That, I can see getting sent home for but I thought most schools let you retest later in the course. A lot has changed since I went through it so I'm trying to get my facts straight before I kill him. :)

MAJ (Join to see) - Even to me, that sounds fishy. Even us Enlisted get a second shot at an APFT before getting the boot. Same goes for our NCOES. A one bad eval doesn't equal getting sent home. Honestly, my NCOsense (kind of like Spidey Sense) is kicking in and methinks there is more to the story.
