When Face the Fight® launched in 2023, it started with one goal: dramatically reduce veteran suicide by breaking stigma, expanding access to care, and empowering a community-wide response.
Now, just two years in, the results speak for themselves.
● Over 355,000 lives reached
● 6,500 lives projected to be saved by 2032
● More than 30,000 people trained in suicide prevention

Built by the community, for the community
Launched by founding partners USAA, Reach Resilience and the Humana Foundation, Face the Fight is a growing national initiative with a coalition of more than 250 organizations working together to dramatically reduce veteran suicide. Through data-driven grantmaking, cross-sector partnerships, and powerful storytelling, we are delivering lifesaving solutions and helping break the stigma surrounding mental health in the military community.
From supporting peer-to-peer connections during VA’s Buddy Check Week to major events like Face the Fight Night at the Grand Ole Opry, this past year has shown what’s possible when we bring our collective strength to the table.
What’s inside the report?
● Real stories and quotes from veterans, clinicians, and coalition partners
● Highlights from 54 funded projects nationwide
● Tools like Check-In, connecting veterans to no-cost mental and brain health care
● Powerful results from training programs, such as lethal means safety
● Milestones like the first in-person coalition meeting and expanded grantmaking
The message is simple: No one should face life’s hardest moments alone.
Whether you’re a service member, veteran, family member, caregiver, or survivor, you can join us in the fight against veteran suicide. Be prepared to help a veteran in your life by accessing free online training (https://strongstartraining.org/face-the-fight/). And if you’ve already taken the Face the Fight training or supported a fellow vet, reach out to a fellow veteran and let them know they’re not alone.
