NG: Post Deployment leave, can my unit force me to get paid out as opposed to using rollover?

I got back from my deployment a couple of months ago and immediately transitioned into MRP-E orders to handle a medical issue I incurred overseas. Those orders are ending soon now and it's time for me to use the leave I accrued on the deployment. My unit is now telling me that they may not allow me to use my leave as rollover and rather will force me to get paid out. This is frustrating as I'll get paid significantly less for the leave I earned, do I have no say in the matter?

You can't take leave. When you are coming off orders in the Guard it is a different pot of money. You were are orders for a certain amount of time. Lets say 365 days. That is all the funding that you will get. If you don't take leave in that window then that set of orders will cost 395 days. They will have to pay the additional pay and all of the other allowances. That is why. Usually they can give you terminal leave some times but there is a cut off of it. I lost days and had to get paid out. But if you jump orders in the Guard that leave may not come with you. The system is not meant to pay the Service Member the most they can. The system is meant to pay for the orders that the Soldiers were on.

Not entirely true, depends on what the end date is of his orders. It sounds like he went past that date already. You can take leave all the way to your last day, but not one day after that.

CW3 Kevin Storm That's what I believe. It sounds like he wants leave after the orders end and then start the other orders.

Best of luck
You should state that you "have not had the opportunity to take leave" if that's the case.

I'd talk to finance. It sounds like they want to close out the books.
