What are your thoughts about RallyPoint adding an 'Awards' sub-section under our 'Military Credentials' section of our profile?
What purposes would this serve?
- Highlights additional credentials throughout career
- Educates junior servicemembers of potential awards they can strive to compete for/earn
- Publicizes lesser known awards (annual, lifetime, etc)
- Potential enhancement for future employment opportunities
Have you been awarded the SGM Larry Strickland Educational Leadership Award or the GEICO Military Service Award or have you been selected for an award during an NCO Education System course or won a servicemember (Soldier/Airman/Seaman/Marine, etc) of the month/quarter/year competition?
Points:
- You could add Regimental Association Awards (Horatio Gates, Order of the Dragon, Order of the Marechaussee, etc.)
- You could add Sergeants Audie Murphy/Morales inductions
- You could add Soldier/NCO of the Month/Quarter/Year
- You could add NCOES awards (Honor Grad, Commandant's List, Leadership award, etc)
- You could add lesser know awards
Note: Not intended for military awards and decorations that you wear on your chest (that ribbon rack you wear sometimes).
When looking through military records, these accomplishments are rarely seen or buried within evaluations or other awards because they are never highlighted or added to military records, but they ARE important.

I think it's a wonderful idea. It would give people a chance to see what skills you have outside of the usual "lead-deploy-lead-counsel-PCS-deploy" cycle. It would also give younger soldiers new goals they might not otherwise know about, or try for.
Sad to say, but unless you have someone in your unit who has earned a non-mil award, you very likely would never know it existed.

Why not create a Non-Military Award section to our profile to reflect these?

Wouldn't see a need for a new section (don't want to see this completely replace an ERB (for our Army folks)), but simply to enhance our military credentials.
