I will be moving to Livorno, Italy (Camp Darby) for work as a civilian in January 2016. Any suggestions as to where I should live while there, and what are the best things to do while there?

Learn the language as best you can and as fast as you can. You will have the BEST time there. I don't what Livorno is like now but we had a ball in the early 90's!!! Enjoy yourself!!!

I lived in Cascina. Nice small walled city with a walking street full of cafe bars, pizza, wine and so on. The town has a nice 25 meter indoor pool and a 50 meter outdoor pool. From Cascina you are 15 minutes to post on the Fi-Pi-Li. Bonus, the town has a train station for when you want to venture into Firenze. It was hard to PCS after 3 years in Cascina.

I've never been there myself, but this link: http://www.usag.livorno.army.mil/ should help you find a way to enjoy your leisure time.
