I would personally stay away until I am due to report. They won't be ready for you, and you can't do much besides get contact information or maybe shake a hand or two.
You have a lot to worry about when you PCS. Take care of house and household, and worry about the unit when you arrive.

Well, the first question is: do you really need a sponsor? I've never really needed one for my PCS's, as I typically do my own research on my own for housing, etc. If you don't need one, then don't bother. If you do, I'd reach out to the BDE S1.

I'm already established off post and contacted S1 to figure out what unit I will be in so I guess I don't really need a sponsor didn't think of it like that Sir thanks for the advice
