All he should have to do is take his re-enlistment paperwork to S1 and show them. Then, S1 should submit a deletion of orders. Then wait for the deletion to come in

Ok, so to ask the obvious $64,000 question: who determines which is the paramount orders set? S-1 can submit for deletion of orders but there is no guarantee it will happen?

SGT Rodrigo Contreras - The reason I had stated this was because I had done exactly this measure. I had re-enlisted from 12B back to 91B (Medic, back then). Shortly there after, I was handed orders to report to FT Stewart. I figure it was orders to report as a Medic since I had just switched back. I went to my Levy Briefing, and that is when I finally noticed the orders were to report as a 12B. I notified the S1 staff giving the brief of this. They told me to bring in my re-enlistment contract and they will submit for a deletion of orders. About 3 months later (this was in the late 90's), and many phone calls of FT Stewart wondering where I was, I was instructed to clear and report to Stewart and show them my documentation and just wait to be put in a unit as a Medic. I started clearing and when I went to clear S1, I was told to stop, and that my deletion of orders had come thru. And then I was handed my orders to report to Germany 8 months down the road.

You can only reenlist for up to 12 months of current station stabilization, it is supposed to guarantee that you will not come down on orders within those 12 months. What is the point of having a stabilization option if the Army doesnt give two shits about it

I am pretty sure that in the fine print that it is all subject to the "needs of the Army." So 12 month stabilization IF the Army doesn't need you elsewhere. I guess he could try to speak to branch detailer and see what can be done but my guess is PCSing.
